Statement of Support for UH faculty by Rep. Angus McKelvey

The big reason we have a world-class university system is because of the faculty at UH. It’s because our faculty and the contributions they have made that has given UH the ability to attract and graduate some of the brightest minds in the various fields of sciences, engineering, business and other academia. It’s because of our stellar faculty that we have also managed to secure billions of dollars worth of federal, private and state grants and have engineered some of the profound inventions in our society today. If we are to successfully expand our Innovation Economy initiatives that we started last session, we need a world-class university system with world-class faculty as a partner to help attract these critical private sector partners and matriculate the innovators and entrepreneurs needed to help thee state build the innovation economy both here and across the U.S.
